Buddha Caves Tour

Day 1, Delhi – Gaya (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

15:00 hrs.– Assemble at the Delhi Safdurjung Railway Station. Traditional Welcome and check – in to your respective coaches.

16:00 hrs.– Departure of the train for Gaya. Evening Tea & Dinner served on-board. Over night stay on-board.
Day 2, Gaya – Bodhgaya ( 16 Kms) (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

Arrive at Gaya Railway Station early morning. Disembark and assemble for boarding the coaches for road journey of approx one hour to Bodhgaya.

Arrive at Bodhgaya Hotel and check-in. Wash & Change, followed by the breakfast. After breakfast proceed by coach for sightseeing of Bodhgaya including Mahabodhi Temple & Niranjana River.

Return to the Hotel for lunch and relax for some time. Proceed for sightseeing of Thai Temple, Japanese Temple and Buddha Statue.

Evening. – Return to Hotel, dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Bodhgaya.
Day 3, Bodhgaya – Nalanda – Rajgir – Gaya – Varanasi (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

05:00 hrs. – Early morning tea & breakfast followed by checkout from the Hotel. Departure for Rajgir by bus (85 Kms).

10:30 hrs. – Arrival at Rajgir. Sightseeing at Rajgir of Bimbimsara Jail, Gridhakut hill, Venuvan.

12:30 hrs. – Proceed to a Restaurant in Rajgir for lunch. After lunch, proceed to Nalanda for sightseeing covering ruins of world famous Nalanda University & Nalanda Museum.

16:00 hrs. – Depart back to Gaya Railway Station.

20:00 hrs. – Arrival at Gaya Railway Station and board the train. Dinner on-board. Departure from Gaya at 2330 hrs to Varanasi (220 kms) by train. Overnight stay on-board.
Day 4, Varanasi – Sarnath – Gorakhpur (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )
Early morning tea on-board and arrival at Varanasi. Proceed to the hotel for wash & change (room given only for wash & change) and breakfast.

After breakfast, visit Sarnath (10 kms) for to see Dhamekh Stupa, Sarnath Museum, The Ashokan Pillar, Mulgandha Kuti Vihar.

Afternoon – Lunch at the hotel. Followed by some free time. Tourists can either opt for shopping or other activities.

Evening – Visit to the river Ganges Ghat, Boat ride, Evening Arti. Return to the Train.

20:00 hrs. – Arrival at the Varanasi Railway Station and board the train Dinner on board. Departure for Gorakhpur (224kms) at 23:30 hrs. Overnight stay on-board.
Day 5, Gorakhpur – Kushinagar (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

Early morning tea on board. Arrive at Gorakhpur Railway Station. Proceed by coach to Hotel at Gorakhpur/Kushinagar.

Arrive at the Hotel in Kushinagar and check-in. Breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast, visit Mahaparinirvan Temple, Rambhar Stupa, Mata Kutir Temple etc.

Afternoon – Lunch at the hotel. Followed by some free time. Tourists can either opt for shopping or other activities.

Afternoon – Lunch at the Hotel. Evening participate in a chanting and meditation session. (Subject to availability of appropriate teachers/instructors).

Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 6, Kushinagar – Lumbini – Gorakhpur (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

05:00 hrs. : Early morning tea and breakfast at the hotel.

06:00 hrs. – Check-out of the Hotel and proceed to Lumbini. (Nepal) by bus. Tourists must obtain the Nepal visa from their respective countries. Otherwise, lot of time required at the border to process the visa.

Arrive Lumbini and proceed to a hotel / restaurant for Lunch. Visit Lumbini including Maya Devi Temple, Ashokan Pillar and Pushkarni lake.

16:00 hrs – Departure for Gorakhpur. Arrive Gorakhpur Railway Station. Board at around 20:30 hrs and board the Train.

Dinner on-board, Depart by train to Gonda at 23:30 hrs.

Day 7, Gonda – Sravasti – Gonda – Agra (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

Early morning tea on-board and arrival at Gonda Railway Station. Departure for Sravasti (65kms) by bus. Arrival at the hotel, wash & change (room given only for wash & change) and breakfast.

After breakfast, visit Jetvana Vihara, Pakki Kuti & Sehat Mahet, Thai Temple.

Afternoon – Lunch at the Hotel and proceed to back to Gonda railway station to board the train.

17:00 hrs – Arrival at the Gonda Railway Station to board the Train. Depart by train to Agra (450 kms) at 18:00 hrs. Evening Tea and dinner served on-board.

Overnight stay on-board.
Day 8, Agra - Delhi (Mahaparinirvana Train tour )

Early morning tea, wash & fresh and breakfast on-board.

After breakfast, proceed for the sight-seeing of the World famous Taj Mahal.

12:30 hrs. – Proceed to the Agra Railway Station. Departure by train for New Delhi (220 kms) at 14:15 hrs. Onboard lunch and evening tea.

Arrival at the Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station at approximately 18:30 hrs. Transfer to hotel.

Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 9, Delhi / Bhopal

Breakfast at hotel. Morning visit Old Delhi with visit to the Rajghat ( Cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi ), drive past Red Fort It is a reminder of India's glorious past. The fort is Shah Jehan's symbol of power and elegance, Built behind red sandstone walls. Its main gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested avenue-heading west from the Red Fort, is filled with twisting lanes, small streets and Crowded Bazaars .Also visit Jama Masjid -It is an imposing mosque built by Shah Jahan in 1656 in Mughal style of architecture. This splendid structure boasts of being the largest and most exquisite mosque in India. Built in yellow sandstone, this grand tower is five storied each one possessing a distinct balcony. Also visit to India Gate – Built as a memorial to commemorate the 70,000 India soldiers killed in World War I, India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and completed in 1931. The gate is 160 feet high with an arch of 138 feet. and drive past President and Parliament House.

Transfer to Airport to connect flight for Bhopal. ( Flight IC 134 : Dep 1800 Hrs / Arr 1910 Hrs) or By over night Train ( Bhopal Express) .On arrival transfer to hotel.

Day 10, Bhopal – Sanchi – Bhopal.

Bhopal proceed for an excursion to Sanchi and Bhimbhetka Caves ( Apprx 45 Kms one way). By late evening, you will come back to the hotel and retire for the night.

Day 11, Bhopal - Aurangabad

After breakfast transfer to railway station to connect train to Aurangabad (By Kamayani Express 1072 : 0740 Hrs / 1745 Hrs). Arrive Manmad Railway station & transfer to hotel.

Day 12, Aurangabad

Morning excursion to Ajanta Caves. AJANTA is world's greatest historical monument recognized by UNESCO. There are 30 caves in Ajanta of which 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are chaitya-grihas and the rest are monasteries. These caves were discovered in AD 1819 and were built up in the earlier 2nd century BC-AD. Most of the paintings in Ajanta are right from 2nd century BC-AD and some of them about the fifth century AD and continued for the next two centuries. All paintings shows heavy religious influence and centre around Buddha, Bodhisattvas, incidents from the life of Buddha and the Jatakas. The paintings are executed on a ground of mud-plaster in the tempera technique.

(Ajanta caves remain closed on every Monday).

Afternoon sight seeing of Ellora Caves: About 18 miles away from the city of Aurangabad -a group of rock temples - possess a magnificent series of Buddhist, Brahmanical and Jain temples of the 9th Century A.D.

Kailash Temple, hewn out of a single rock, carved with life size figures of gods and goddesses, is a wonder.
(Ellora caves remain closed on every Tuesday).
Day 13, Aurangabad – Hyderabad

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out at 1200 Noon. Afternoon proceed for city tour visiting Aurangabad Caves, Daulatabad Fort and Bibi Ka Muqbara.

Evening transfer to Manmad Railway station to connect train for Hyderabad ( By Ajanta Express 7063 : Dep 2240 Hrs).

Overnight on board.
Day 14, Arrive Hyderabad

Arrive Secundrabad Station at 0855 Hrs. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour of Hyderabad city visiting the Falukuma Palace, Salar Jung Museum and Charminar.

Day 15, Hyderabad

After breakfast visit to Anandha Vihara the Majestic modern Temple dedicated to Lord Buddha & opened by Dalai Lama himself and the Grand Monolith Statue of Lord Buddha at Buddha Purnima.

Afternoon free for own activities.

Day 16, Hyderabad - Nagarjuna Sagar (150 kms / 3 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Nagarjuna Sagar. On arrival check into hotel. Afternoon visit to Anupu, the Amphi-Theatre, Viharas & Chaityas and the other impressive Buddhist remains.

Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 17, Nagarjuna Sagar

After breakfast take a boat excursion to visit the serene Nagarjuna Konda Island Museum. One of the outstanding Buddhist civilisation dating back to the 3rd century AD were excavated here and are carefully preserved on a picturesque island called Nagarjuna Konda, situated in the centre of a man-made lake. Evening return to Nagarjuna Sagar.

Day 18, Nagarjuna Sagar – Vijayawada (185 kms / 04 Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Vijayawada via Amaravati Visits to the impressive Maha Stupa, Museum and the ancient Amralingeshwara Temple.

Day 19, In Vijayawada

After breakfast, take a full-day guided tour of Neelamkondapalli & Jagayapeta stupas filled with inscriptions from the Mauryan era and the beautiful Undavalli Caves.

Day 20, Vijaywada – Vishakhapatnam (380 kms / 7 hrs)

After breakfast, depart to Vishakhapatnam enroute visiting Guntupalli’s rock cut caves with over a dozen stupas, viharas & chaityas. Also note the impressive six-foot marble statue of Lord Buddha. Drive to Vishakhapatnam.

Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 20, In Vishakhapatnam

Breakfast at hotel followed by a full-day guided tour. TO include: AM visit to Sankaram - famous for its numerous rows of monolith stupas with expressive images of Lord Buddha. PM visit to Salihudam – an interesting Swastika shaped entrance with a 46-foot diameter stupa & Buddhist Platforms. It was from here that Buddhism spread to far eastern countries. Return to Vishakhapatnam.

Day 21, Vishakhapatnam – Hyderabad/ Delhi

After breakfast transfer to airport to connect flight for Hyderabad or Delhi. on arrival connect to International flight for onward destination.
